KARATE: The annual Karate tournament organised by Toyo Kai Karate
Federation was held recently under the Patronage of Sports and Public
Recreation Minister Gamini Lokuge at the National Youth Centre Indoor
Stadium.
There were 7 events in the 4 to 22 age categories. There were several
interesting events and the very young and not so young were in the thick
of the events. The Minister Gamini Lokuge presented 'Black Belts' to 3
sportsmen Suraj Wijethilake, Sameera Madusanka and Madusha M. Perera.The
tournament was conducted under the supervision of the founder and the
Chief Instructor Sesnei D. Wijesiri.
The results of the events are as follows:
4-6 age category: 1. W. P. A. Dhanuja Sandeepa, 2. Avavin Noha, 3. M.
A. I. Salinchai Perera.
6-7 category: 1. K. D. N. Madubashana, 2. W. P. A. Vinuja Thenura, 3.
Venuki Amarasinghe.
7-9 category: 1. Angilo Jayawardane, 2. Shon Hasaranga, 3. Thisum
Sasmitha.
4-10 category: 1. Osada Sathruwan, 2. G. Sugathapala, 3. Kavidu
Gayantha.
10-12 category: 1. Isura Chamara Gallage, 2. Madusha N. Perera, 3.
Hasidu Hareen.
11-13 category: 1. Buwaneka Binura, 2. M. A. I. Sirinda Perera, 3.
Delon Ranawaka.
14-16 category: 1. Sadil Gunathilake, 2. U. I. Weerathunga, 3.

All keen and eager...... Tiny tots from the age of 4 years and
up were eager participants in the karate tournament of Toyo kai
karate honbu in Maharagama. An interesting time was had by all.
