An eye camp organised by the HDFC Bank the specialised housing bank
in Sri Lanka, was held recently at the Manining Market Complex in Pettah,
Colombo.
An eye clinic followed by a contribution of spectacles was also held
at the camp which was held by the HDFC as a social welfare service with
the fullest patronage of the Colombo eye hospital. A large number of
small entrepreneurs and employees at the Manin Market Complex attended
the camp and the Trade and Marketing Associations in the complex
expressed their extreme gratitude for organising the event.

Pathirana at the HDFC said the necessity to hold an eye camp was due to
the large number of people who lack resources and time to attend to
their eye health.
Aiming the financial empowerment of the small scale business
community in the Manin Market in Pettah, HDFC Bank launched a daily
savings program Palm Top Banking.'
Through the successful implementation of the programme it is expected
to assist them to improve and elevate the living conditions of their
families while expecting a favourable trend towards the welfare,
education, social and economic development of such families.
HDFC Bank hopes that the fruitful social changes developed as a
result of such social welfare activities in return would also be an
effective cause towards the credibility of the institution.
