Sir Elton John :
Elton John has been in the
spotlight for more than four decades with such hits as ‘Rocket Man’,
‘Crocodile Rock’, ‘Goodbye’, ‘Yellow Brick Road’, ‘Candle in the Wind’,
‘Daniel’ and more.
As a performer, musician and superstar, he ranks with the Beatles,
the Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan.
The piano-pounding prodigy from Pinner began his life as Reggie
Dwight, started off his musical career as a pub entertainer before he
rose to be an international keyboard king.
He teamed up with lyricist Bernie Taupin and churned out number of
hits that ironically became number one hits in the States faster than in
his native land England. ‘Daniel’ was one of them - a tribute to a lost
friend.
Elton John was prone to hit depressions and the best of his songs
reflected the pathos and the loneliness in his life. True to the spirit
of his song ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’, Elton John established
his Elton John Aids Foundation and announced his decision to donate all
future royalties from the sales of his singles in the US and UK to AIDS
research.
Now at the age of 60, Sir Elton’s voice continues to give his fans
the same attraction as when he started off his career four decades ago.
Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain
Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
They say Spain is pretty though I’ve never been
Well Daniel says it’s the best place that he’s ever seen
Oh and he should know, he’s been there enough
Lord I miss Daniel, oh I miss him so much
Daniel my brother you are older than me
Do you still feel the pain of the scars won’t heal
Your eyes have died but you see more than I
Daniel you’re a star in the face of the sky
Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain
Oh I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
Oh God it looks like Daniel must be the clouds in my eyes
