SLMA sessions from tomorrow

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena is expected to touch on some of
the health issues facing the country when he speaks to doctors tomorrow,
as Guest of Honour at the inauguration of the Sri Lanka Medical
Association's (SLMA) 123rd Annual Scientific Sessions at the Cinnamon
Grand Hotel, Colombo at 6 p.m.
Briefing the media at a meeting held at the SLMA office in Colombo,
on the Annual Sessions, SLMA President Dr. Narada Warnasuriya said the
Minister's speech will be delivered at 7.10 p.m. He said the Minister
will also meet London University's Professor of Epidemiology and Public
Health, Sir Michael Marmot, who has been invited for the event as chief
quest.
Dr. Warnasuriya said this year's SLMA oration will be delivered by
Dr. Kapila Jayaratna (Consultant/Community Physician, Family Health
Bureau).
"Ergonomic Factors of Educational Environments and Influence of
School-going Early Adolescents'. This will be at 7.50 p.m. Dr.
Warnasuriya said that among the interesting topics to be taken up at the
various symposia at this scientific sessions, which will go on till June
4, are "Fair Society Healthy Lives' by prof. Michael Marmot. and 'Self
harm among teenagers a worrying trend? by Dr. Swarna Wijetunga.
