Kandy trounce CH 55-7

Kandy Sports Club continued their winning spree when they beat a hapless CH&FC outfit by 55 points (5 goals, 4 tries) to 7 (1 goal) in their Caltex 'A' Division League Rugby match at Maitland Crescent yesterday. The winners led 36-0 at the breather.

The Kandyans opened scoring in the ninth minute when winger Dharshana Ettipola evaded several defenders and touched down and Saliya Kumara added the extra points.

There after it was a orgy of tries by the strong Kandy team, and the fragile looking CH & FC desperately trying to defend. The try scorers for Kandy were winger Dharshana Ellepola (3), flanker Sajith Eranga (2), prop Eranga Swarnatileka (2), Sanjeeva Jayasinghe (1), Saliya Kumara (1). Fullback Saliya Kumara put over the conversions.

Lakala Perera scored the solitary try for CH&FC and added the extra points.
