Elected to CIMA Global Council

Nilam Jayasinghe has been elected to the Global Council of CIMA in
the UK, for a three year term commencing from this month representing
South Asia (Area 14).
Jayasinghe was the Past President of the CIMA Sri Lankan Division in
1998/99, In his year as President he was responsible for the visit of
Professor of Leadership Development of the Harvard Business School Prof.
Robert Kaplan, for the first time in Asia, to deliver a series of
lectures, on the, ‘Balanced Scorecard’.
In recognition of his services to the CIMA Sri Lanka Division and to
the profession, he was awarded the, Institute’s bronze medal in 2004 by
the Council in the UK. Since 2009, he serves on the Policy Committee in
the UK, in addition to being a member of the Member Conversion Panel in
Sri Lanka for a number of years. Jayasinghe is a Vice President of NDB
Bank PLC responsible for the Finance, planning and treasury functions.
He has been a member of the senior management team since 1997. He also
serves on the Boards of a few subsidiary companies of the NDB group.
He is the Vice Chairman of the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka, a
member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and has served on the
Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board and the Company Law
Reforms Commission.
He began his career at KPMG Ford Rhodes Thornton and company and has
worked at Aitken Spence and Company as the Group Treasurer and Director
of Aitken Spence Corporate Finance Ltd. He also the Finance and
Commercial Manager of Lanka Tiles Limited. |
