Coconuts on 20 acres at Police Training College

About 20 acres of land where the Police Training College Kalutara is situated is to be developed by the Coconut Development Board with the approval of IGP Mahinda Balasooriya, said DIG Training Ravi Wijayagunawardena.

He was addressing police officers at the inception meeting held at the Magul Maduwa auditorium of PTC recently.

The DIG said there was nearly 20 acres, having about 1,500 coconut trees which were not tended.

He said the Police College was set up in 1948 and after a lapse of a few years it was again converted to a training school.

The DIG said that the Coconut Development Board has undertaken to supply seedlings, manure, and guidance to the Police College trainees to improve the coconut land.

Assistant Director CDB Bandula Kumara said that he was happy to assist the development project at the Police College by supplying the needy seedlings manure and guidance.

Director, S.S.P Ajith Wickremasekara said that he would propose the vote of thanks to the DIG as well as the officials attached to the CDB.

He said betel, coffee and plantain could he grown in between coconut plants for an extra income.
