Bhanuka crowned king
Sri Lanka Youth player and star Royal batsman Bhanuka Rajapakse was
crowned the Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year at the Mega
Awards Show at the BMICH on Monday. Romesh Buddhika of Mahinda College,
Galle was the runner-up in the All-Island Category.
Chathuranga Gunasekera of Tissa Central, Kalutara won the Observer-Mobitel
Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Outstation title. Ruwantha Kellapotha of
St. Thomas’ College, Matale was the runner-up.
Kithruwan Vithanage of Royal College was voted the Observer-Mobitel
Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer while his team mate Shavenda
Edirisuriya was the runner-up.
Malinda Samarasekera of Maris Stella College, Negombo was voted the
Observer-Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer (Outstation) with
Krishan Wickremarachchi of Gamini MV, Bentota as the runner-up. Minister
of Mass Media and Information Keheliya Rambukwella was the Chief Guest
while Sports Minister C.B. Ratnayake and Education Minister Bandula
Gunawardena were the Guests of Honour.
Former Sri Lanka captain and ICC Chief Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle
launched the exclusive website for the event - www.schoolboycricketer.lk
and presented the glittering trophy to the Best Batsman (All-Island)
Kithruwan Vithanage.
