Time to unite for country's progress - Minister Welgama

There will be no parliamentary election for another six years.
Therefore, it is time to stand together to work for the development of
the country. It is very important all these development work should
start from the grassroot level, said Transport Minister Kumara Welgama.
He was addressing the Kalutara District Co-ordinating Committee held at
the district auditorium premises Kalutara recently.
The Minister said that there will be no two stages of development,
but one which is a combination of the power co-ordinating committee and
district committee. It has been proposed by the President and I have
been appointed the Chairman of that co-ordinating committee which is
empowered with all development in the district, Minister Welgama said.
Minister Welgama said the drug menace known as 'Babul' has raised its
head in the Bandaragama division, according to a telephone message
received. The police have now taken the necessary action.
He also said that three days of the week are permitted to dig river
sand in the Kalu Ganga. This cannot be revised he said.
According to the Acting Directress of Health Kalutara six dengue
patients have died in the district, and it has come to an epidemic
level. It has spread in the Panadura and Ingiriya divisions.
The GA Kalutara S. Hapuarachchi, WPC member, Sumith Lal Mendis, W.
Gunesekera, Sirisome Lokuvithana, Divisional Secretary, Kalutara and
Jayampathy Melis also spoke. |
