People's Merchant Bank opens branch in Trincomalee
Peoples Merchant Bank PLC (PMB), an associate company of Peoples
Bank, as a part of its expansion program, opened its 9th branch at
Trincomalee, on June 28, 2010 with Minister of Economic Development
Basil Rajapaksa as cheif guest.

In his welcome speech, Managing Director/CEO of People's Merchant
Bank Anura Wickramasinghe, touched on PMB's entry into the largest city
in the North East, in its rapidly growing network across the island. He
said that People's Merchant Bank is probably the smallest company within
the People's Bank family, and is committed to support the Government's
Negenahira Navodaya program. Basil Rajapaksa's participation in the
opening of the branch will be an added strength to its progress.
This branch will serve the people of Trincomalee at an opportune time
with economic progress in areas of tourism, agriculture and other
sectors that are bound to develop further.
Religious ceremonies were conducted by Sri Indrarama Viharadhipathi,
Ven. Polhengoda Uparathana Thera and Kali Kovil Ayyar, Ravichandran
Kurukkal.
The branch is geared to offer a range of financial products and
services such as leasing, hire purchase facilities and short term
business loans where the target market would be the surrounding rural
areas.
