Pamoda excels at shuttle c'ship

BADMINTON: Pamoda Kaushika Hettiarachchi of Dharmaraja College, Kandy emerged the single and doubles winner of the All Island Schools Badminton Championship organised by the Moratuwa University Sports Association and conducted at the Moratuwa University last week. In the doubles, he was partnered by Lahiru Ambegoda of Ananda.

Pamoda won the under-17 singles and doubles with the age group championship. In the singles event, Pamoda beat Masitha Perera (Sri Jayewardenepura), Vishwa Karannagoda (St. Peter's), Savin Shirantha (Nalanda), Sanura Hapuarachchi (Ananda) and Ravindu Ranatunga (Nalanda).

Pamoda won the doubles with Lahiru Ambegoda of Ananda College, Colombo beating Sanura Hapuarachchi (Ananda) and Ravindu Ranatunga (Nalanda).

Pamoda is a grade 11 student of Dharmaraja College and represented Sri Lanka at the Asian Junior Badminton Championship in 2008 and won the Schools Badminton Player Award in 2009.
