Indian Army Chief arrives on goodwill tour
General Vijay Kumar Singh PVSM AVSM YSM ADC, the Chief of the Indian
Army at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart, Lieutenant General
Jagath Jayasuriya arrives in Sri Lanka today on a five-day official
tour.
The Indian Army Chief's five-member delegation is comprised Mrs.
Bharti Singh, President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Major
General Harminderjit Singh Sachedev SM, General Officer Commanding,
Infantry Division, Brigadier Jatinder Pal Singh, Military Assistant and
Mrs. Aravinder Kaur.
The visiting Indian Chief of Army Staff General vijay Kumar Singh
during his stay in Sri Lanka is scheduled to have separate meetings with
the President, Prime Minister, Minister of External Affairs, Secretary
Defence, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force,
Commander of the Army Commander of the Navy before he pays floral
tributes to the Indian Peace keeping Forces (IPKF) memorial at
Battaramulla.
Children from SLLI families honoured
A group of 20 schoolchildren from families of the Sri Lanka Light
Infantrymen (SLLI) were congratulated and gifted with special financial
donations for their high educational achievements in year 2009 at a
brief ceremony organised by the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha
Branch at its auditorium recently.
The children who excelled in their studies achieving the highest
aggregates and distinctions received Rs. 2,000 each from the chief guest
on the occasion.

Branch cum Vice President, Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Branch.
Car Wash 2010 till Sept. 30
The annual 'Car Wash 2010', a fund-raising project by the Thurstan
College JOBU, in aid of the College development activities, which
commenced on September 1 will continue till September 30.
All ticket holders can get their vehicles washed at any "Auto Miraj
Total Auto Care Points", mentioned on the ticket at any time during this
period.
Past Thurstanites', parents and the public wishing to buy tickets,
could obtain same from the JOBU Committee, Thurstan College Swimming
Pool office or from Pubudu Hettiarachchi (Vice President - Media) on

SLIA seminar
The Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) has organised a one-day
seminar on "How to handle correspondence independently" for its members
on September 11 at 9.00 am at the SLIA auditorium. The program will be
conducted by Centre for Leadership Excellence and Personality
Development (CENLEAD) CEO DR. K. Kuhathasan.
