ICASL National Conference from Oct 28 - 30

Themed 'The world sees opportunity in Sri Lanka' the 31st National
Conference of the Institute of Charted Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL)
will be held from October 28-30 at the Waters Edge, Colombo.

The conference will be inaugurated by Economic Development Minister
Basil Rajapaksa. Six technical sessions namely, Sri Lanka - the way
forward and the role of professionals, Opportunities and Challenges in
the Green Economy, Attracting Foreign Direct Investment - Opportunities
for the Sri Lankan Corporate, Risk in today's Board Room-the CFO, the
CEO, the Auditor, the Director, the Chairman will be discussed as well
as Business Sense of IFRS-Opportunities to derive and Recent Business
failures and its impact on the Economic Revival.
The speakers will include Central Bank Governor, Ajith Nivard Cabraal,
Prof. Nalin Kulathilaka from Boston University, Treasury Secretary Dr.
P.B. Jayasundera, Prof. Narayan from IIM, Bangalore, partner KPMG Ford
Rhodes Thornton and Company Riyas Mihular and partner Nithya Partners,
Neomal Gunawardena.
The uniqueness of this year's conference is the emphasis it places on
the business sphere for Sri Lanka.
Previous conferences focused on technical areas relating to
accounting and finance, however the national conference this year will
feature a broad range of business topics relating to the commerce and
industry of the entire country in the current context.
The Conference aims to showcase that Sri Lanka has become the
cynosure of all eyes, since the end of the ethnic conflict in 2009.It is
with this in mind that the theme, 'World sees Opportunity in Sri Lanka'
was chosen for the year 2010.
This year's conference will focus on realising the potential Sri
Lanka has and the vision of the Government to make Sri Lanka the miracle
of Asia", said President ICASL Sujeewa Mudalige.
The main sponsors of this conference are Cargills, Hatton National
Bank, John Keells Holdings and Sri Lanka Telecom.
This year marks the 31st national conference of the Institute which
was inaugurated in 1980.
The conference is known to bring together the knowledge, expertise
and experience of a panel of high profile speakers from both local and
international arena.
