The Negombo branch of The Finance Company (TFC) launched the Golden
Rod property scheme recently.

HDFC wins Golden MACO Award
HDFC Bank was awarded the Golden MACO Award at the MACO Awards
Ceremony organised by the Mass Communicators Association of Sri Lanka,
held at Grand Oriental Hotel recently. HDFC Chairperson, Mrs. Siromi
Wickramasinghe receives the award from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry
of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Cashian Herath.

Workshop on Product Packaging
A one day workshop on Product Packaging: Concepts and Information
will be Held on November 25 at the ITI Auditorium. Organised by the
Information Services Centre of the Industrial Technology Institute it is
the third in a series of Knowledge sharing seminars and work shops. Four
presentations will be made by eminent persons in the field drawn from
the National Packaging Centre, the Central Environmental Authority and
the ITI who will provide know how on how to select the best and most
efficient mode of packaging for products or commodities.
The ITI hopes to create greater awareness on this subject among the
manufacturing industry sector for whom packaging plays an important role
in transporting products from factory or manufacturing.site to the end
consumer.
The workshop will cover topics such as, Product Packaging - The
secret to selling a commodity products by S R P Indrakeerthi, Deputy
Director, National Packaging Centre, Sri Lanka Export Development Board;
Packaging and Environment Issues by Dr Sanjaya Ratnayaka Director
Environmental Pollution Control, Central Environmental Authority;
Packaging of Food and Agro products by Ms. Damitha Rajapakse - Senior
Research Officer/Food Technology Section, ITI and Packaging Information
: Sources and Tools by Ms. Purnima Jayasinha - Senior Scientific

DFCC Vardhana Bank’s health camp in Madhu

DFCC Vardhana Bank recently sponsored a health camp in Madhu,
organised by the Saukyadana Movement. The health camp held during the
Madhu feast was conducted with four doctors, pharmacists and a large
number of volunteers. Over 800 persons were treated for various medical
needs at the health camp.

LIMRA International Awards 2010 was recently held at Cinnamon
Lakeside, Colombo with Managing Director South Asia Region LIMRA & LOMA,
Khor Hen Hang as chief guest. LIMRA (Life Insurance and Market Research
Association) International, provides value added marketing and
distribution expertise through their research, training and recognition
schemes. Since 2002, LIMRA recognition awards have been offered annually
to Union Assurance (UA) advisors. The LIMRA International Quality Award
(IQA) and International Award for Productivity (IAP) are offered to Life
Insurance advisors. The International Quality Management Award (IQMA) is
awarded to unit leaders.

Singer Finance Lanka Ltd. (SFLL) opened a branch in Anuradhapura
recently. Sales Director Singer (Sri Lanka) Kumara Samarasinghe was
chief guest.
Singer Finance is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC
and is registered with the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri
Lanka under the Finance Company Act No. 78 of 1988. Its product

LBA/BCI launch BPO certification programs

The Lanka BPO Academy (LBA) together with the Texas based BPO
Certification Institute Inc (BCI) launched the exclusive international
BPO certification programs last week in Colombo. LBA is the island's
first BPO capacity building organisation in Sri Lanka.
There are 40 plus nations who are now with BCI HCMS21 standards on
BPO human competence. The LBA also partnered with BCIs 12
state-of-the-art international BPO certification training programs
together with 150 persons representing Government, BPO and the academic
sector.
Commercial Bank open on Hadji day
The Commercial Bank of Ceylon said that 50 of its branches and
supermarket banking counters will be kept open for the convenience of
customers on November 17, Hadji Festival day, a statutory bank holiday.
The Bank said that 17 branches in the Colombo and Gampaha districts,
the foreign branch at the head office, the Bank’s 25 supermarket banking
counters and its 365-day banking centres at Colombo 07, Ampara, Negombo,
Galle city, Kandy city, Majestic City and Jaffna will be open for
business and that all over-the-counter banking transactions could be
conducted as usual. |
