
Mega road project kicks off in Mullaitivu
The Government has launched a mega project for
developing a network of roads in the Northern Province worth Rs.
34,000 million rupees, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa
inaugurated the first road development project under this program
yesterday in Mullaitivu.
The Government will be developing the A-9 Road to a
four-lane highway under the project.
Under the project, the top quality highway to
Mullaitivu via Nedunkerni and Puliyankulam and the
Oddusudan-Nedunkerni Road will be laid. The Chinese government has
funded the project through a soft loan with a 20 year repayable

e-waste management launched
The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) together
with 14 private sector organizations launched the National Programme
for Electronic Waste Management Project under the theme “Ensuring
Electronic waste free environment” at the BMICH recently.
With the launching of this programme the partner
companies will be introduced their own E-waste collection network
under e waste logo and theme in order to collect and dispose e waste
in an environmental friendly manner.
Kelani Vihara Katina Pinkama
The annual Katina Pinkama of the Sri Kalyani Raja
Maha Vihara, Kelaniya will be held for the 39th time on November 21
(Ill Full Moon day) under the patronage of Viharadhipathi, Most Ven.
Prof. Kollupitiya Maha Mahinda Sangharakkita Nayaka Thera with the
assistance of President Seela Bhavana Society of the Vihara, M. A.
Herath.
The event will conclude with the Katinanisansa
Dharma Desana from 8.00-9.00 p.m. on the same day.
Chinese Film Fair from Nov 26 - 30
The Sri Lanka National Film Corporation (SLNFC) and
Cultural Unit of the Chinese Embassy will jointly conduct a Chinese
Film Fair at the Cinema Hall of the SLNFC, Colombo 7 from November
26 to 30. This fair has been organised to facilitate the spectators
interested in foreign films and youth engaged in education related
to films.
The inaugural ceremony will take place on the 26th
at 6.00 p.m., under the patronage of Chinese Ambassador Young Shio
Pin with the participation of Chairman, SLNFC, Kumar Abeysinghe.
Seven feature films and four documentary films will
be screened free for the public from November 27 to 30.
Child with malignant eye needs help
Three-year-old baby Devadarshani of Kali Kovil

(Malignancy in the eye) and is undergoing treatment at the Eye
Hospital, Colombo.
