CIC Agri Business launched the third stage of the competition Soora
Goviya recently. This competition is part of the project themed
'Humanity' aimed at uplifting living standards of rural people launched
three years ago.
The project CIC Humanity received many accolades which includes the
best Corporate Citizen Award 2010 by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, E-Swabhimani
2010 National Best e-content Award for e-learning and education by ICTA,
e-India Award for the Best Education Website, Swarna Lanka Award,
Sumathi Award for the song Govi Geethaya and three awards from MACO for
organic fruits and vegetables they produce.
A company spokesman said that it is heartening to get a lot of awards
as it is the farmer that is recognised. The project has been able to
improve the lives of many farmers and their families by introducing new
technology helping them to get a high price for their produce.
CIC Agri Business mainly produced fertilizer at commencement. The
Company has diversified and expanded into a business producing different
kinds of agricultural goods and services and earns a total income of
more than six billion.
