Indian Minister opens Consulate in Jaffna
Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna opened the Indian
Consulate in Jaffna yesterday. It is at Palaly Road, the residence of
Jaffna District MP, Vijayakula Maheswaran, wife of slain MP, T.
Maheswaran.
The new Indian Consulate will issue travel documents and attend to
cultural and educational matters, sources said.
Minister Krishna presented over 500 tractors to the farming community
in Jaffna at a function at the Duraiyappah Stadium, Jaffna yesterday.
He also launched a project sponsored by India to build 50,000 houses
for the needy in Jaffna. AP
