Project to build one million houses in January

A project to build one million houses will be launched in January
2011 on the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The country will take the right measures to defeat the attempts of
false propaganda being carried out by anti government elements which
tried to separate the country, said Construction Engineering Services,
Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa.
He was addressing the recipients of financial assistance to build 519
houses worth Rs. 11 million.A cheque for Rs. 20,000 each was presented
to 519 recipients under the final stage of the program. Among them were
six disabled soldiers.
Weerawansa said that it was important for each person to have a house
of his own. The National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) has
launched a scheme to provide houses to the needy. The President's second
term in office will usher a new era for the country.
NHDA Chairman Jayantha Samaraweera, S. Hapuarachchi, G.A. Kalutara
and Gunapala Dissanayake also spoke.
