New AGAs for Northern province

Twelve new Divisional Secretaries have been appointed to serve in Northern Province, Northern Province Governor Major General G. A. Chandrasiri said.

Interviews to appoint the Divisional Secretaries were held under the patronage on Northern Province Governor Major General G. A. Chandrasiri at his office recently.

Governor’s Secretary S. Rangaraja and Northern Province Local Government Ministry Secretary R. Wijayalatchumi were also present during the interview.

Governor said the newly appointed Divisional Secretaries would serve in Jaffna, Vavuniya, Mannar, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts.

According to the Governor, based on their educational qualifications and grade, priority has been given to youth in the appointment process.

Decision to appoint new young Divisional Secretaries was taken as most of the Divisional Secretaries who are serving at present in the Northern province are aged over 60 the Governor noted.

He said that at a time rapid development projects are being implemented in the Northern peninsula the services of such young Divisional Secretaries are crucial to expedite those development projects.

It has been planned to provide smooth and uninterrupted service to the masses in the Northern province through District and Divisional secretaries, the Governor added.
