Four quizzed over death of tusker

The Rathtota police station launched an investigation into a missing
tusker from the Wilgamuwa state reservation during the period 2009-2010
and took in for questioning four persons from Nadungamauwa area in
connection with the crime last week.
Following the inquiry police recovered the pair of tusks, a gun used
in the slaying of the wild tusker and a three wheeler used for the
transport of the tusks from the Wilgamuwa forest reservation.
The four suspects were produced before the Laggala Circuit Court
Magistrate on January 14. The suspects were remanded till January 28
pending further investigations. The Wilgamuwa police are conducting
further investigations.
