Kindergarten teachers, future leader makers
by Mohammed NAALIR
Director Sri Lanka Foundation Institute Professor Ranjith Bandara
emphasized that the teachers who mould the kinder garten kids should be
duely recognised, as they lay the foundation to produce good citizens in
the country.
The International Symposium and Golden Teacher Award 2011, organised
by New World Montessori Pre-school Teacher Training Centre and Liberty
Montessori Schools International, USA, will be held under the patronage
of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial hall
on April 24.
Addressing the media Prof. Ranjith Bandara said that on the same day
a convention and workshop has been organised to discuss the future and
the ways and means of providing facilities to Montessori teachers and
improving their skills under the patronage of First Lady Shiranthi
Rajapaksa at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Hall.
He added the Montessori and Primary teachers were not given
acknowledgement and appreciation even though they offer a yeoman service
in providing fundamental education to kids.
Addressing the media, New World Montessori Pre-school Teacher
Training Director Arosha Bakthi Silva said that certain Montessori
teachers do not understand how to handle the kids as they were not
properly trained. According to Silva the proposed symposium will offer
International guidelines to Primary teachers who are to attend the six
hour workshop. At the end of the event the participants will be
presented International standard certificate.
The Golden Teacher Award 2011 would provide enough opportunities to
the Montessori Teachers to improve their skills to impart solid
education to Montessori kids while being subjected to recognition and
honour.
It is essential to boost the image of our educators. We can promote
the awards event and organise the talent stars from Sri Lanka and India,
adding more prestige to the award. This will also encourage neighbouring
countries to participate in this unique and humanitarian endeavour.
The publicity of the event will bring revenue and recognition to Sri
Lanka for taking the initiative to recognise our unsung heroes. This
exercise will draw celebrities from Sri Lanka and India to entertain the
participants and most importantly, to boost the morale of our teachers.
A percentage of the ticket sales from the event will benefit both winner
and the school that the educator was selected from, according to Silva. |
