Deccan goes for 8 seater aircraft
Deccan Aviation has invested $650,000 on a eight seater GA8 aircraft,
which is being manufactured by Gips Aero Pvt Ltd Australia and be
delivered by April, Director Deccan Aviation Lanka Denham Schokman said.
This will be the first time this type of aircraft will fly in this
region, fly to all airports which could also land on a 500 metre
airstrip. The aircraft designed to modern certification standards to
ensure passengers have a safe and pleasant flight even in the most
challenging weather conditions and is custom-fitted music system with
individual headsets and DVD screen and has a luxurious cabin with
leather seating and curved windows for greater visibility.
The dawn of peace has created a boom in tourism which has helped to
increase our revenue by 46 percent last year compared to 2009.Earlier
around 75 percent of foreigners travelled by air while the rest were Sri
Lankans. Now the trend is changing with 56 percent foreigners and 44
percent Sri Lankans.
The company started operations in 2004 as a helicopter operator and
later became a fixed wing operator in 2007. He said that Deccan
revolutionised the industry by introducing the fixed wing aircraft.
