Though St. Anthony’s College gained the first innings lead. St.
Joseph’s College retained the Murali-Vaas Trophy in their annual cricket
encounter conducted at Katugastota yesterday.
Highlight of the match was the batting of Antonian skipper and opener
Hiran Wickremasekera who stroked a brilliant 105 with 12 fours.
Josephian off spinner Roscha Thattil bowled well to capture 7 for 47
which was one of the best bowling performances in the series. But the
Man of the Match award went to Antonian allrounder.
Arvinda Premaratne who captured a match bag of 7 for 90 and scored 36
runs.
For the Josephians Sudeera Samarawickrema scored 80 in the second
innings with 10 fours and a six while N. Jayasinghe scored 66 with 10
fours both in the second innings.
