Elmo Fernando receives facilities management charter
The Facilities Management Faculty of the Royal Institute of Chartered
Surveyors (UK) has awarded the chartered designation to W B Elmo F J
Fernando recently.
As DGM Projects, Overseas Realty Ceylon PLC Elmo is in charge of the
Havelock City Project - a mega mixed development project of the country.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia, Royal
Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS-UK), Institute of Quantity
Surveyors (SL), American Society of Civil Engineers and is a corporate
member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK.
He has served in the International and Asia Pacific Faculty Boards of
RICS in Facilities Management representing Asia from 2001 to 2009 and is
an external Examiner for the BSc (Hons) Degree Courses in Quantity
Surveying and Facilities Management, University of Moratuwa.
His facilities management career began with the World Trade Centre
building in 1996. He promotes the fast growing discipline that covers
total management of services that support the core business of an
organisation. It is a wide field with a diverse range of specialisations
and responsibilities entailing budgeting/benchmarking, building
maintenance, planning, relocation, commercial management, contract
management, financial services, health/fire/safety, computer aided
facilities, life cycle costing/occupancy cost analysis, outsourcing,
performance management, risk management, services, statistical analysis
of workplace data and strategic advice/planning.
