Plantation Minister meets UNCHR chief in Geneva

Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe who is in Geneva
to attend the UN Human Rights Council Sessions met UN Commissioner of
Human Rights Navaneetham Pillai on Friday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Ministry said the Minister will personally
meet the ambassadors of all HRC member states ahead of the sessions,
scheduled from February 28 to March 25, to update them on the current
post conflict situation in Sri Lanka.
In an interview with the Sunday Observer earlier, the Minister said
his main mission will be to counter LTTE propaganda which strives to
push war crimes charges against the country.
The Sri Lankan delegation comprises Attorney General Mohan Peiris and
officials of the Human Rights Ministry. Sri Lankan Head of Mission in
Geneva Kshenuka Seneviratne also accompanied the minister at the meeting
with Pillai.
