Assistance for Northern youth

Measures are under way to fill the vacancies for Youth Service Officers in the Northern Province, Deputy Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Duminda Dissanayake said.

The Deputy Minister said that there are 100 vacancies for Youth Service Officers in the Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Jaffna districts.

He said that there are 101 youth service organisations in the Vavuniya district, 62 in Mullaitivu, 93 in Jaffna, 63 in Mannar and 30 in Kilinochchi. Altogether 349 youth service organisations are functioning in the Northern province.

The project is intended to improve the technical and vocational skills of the youth in the North to get them involved in the development of the country, according to Dissanayake.
