Financial assistance for Northern fisher families

The Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department with the assistance of the Resettlement Ministry has taken steps to help 80 fisher families to improve their living standards, Jaffna district Director S. Ravindran said.

Ravindran said that the 40 families who to be resettled in J/431 village and 40 families in J/432 Vettilaikkerni village have been selected. Each family will receive Rs. 100,000.

These beneficiaries have been selected from Maruthankeni Divisional Secretariat area.

Plans are also afoot to distribute canoes and nets to them.
