Australian envoy briefed on reconciliation process
Sri Lankan achievements on resettlement and infrastructure
development have not been properly projected to the international
community, said Special Envoy of the Australian Prime Minister John
McCarthy. While meeting Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa
during his recent visit to Sri Lanka McCarthy said that it is time for
Sri Lanka to make concrete moves to project a correct picture to the
international community on the developments.
During the discussion Minister Rajapaksa has reiterated that the
resettlement process will be completed by December 31 this year, said
Kapila Ariyawansa, Director (Media) of the Economic Development
Ministry, commenting on the special discussion. The Minister also
pointed that Lankan refugees in Tamil Nadu have started returning to Sri
Lanka, particularly after the commencement of the ferry service.
Kathy Klugman, Australian High Commissioner in Colombo was also
present.
