Sampath Bank opens in Mahawa

The 197th branch of Sampath Bank PLC was opened recently at Moragollagama Road, Mahawa. The opening ceremony was attended by Director, Sampath Bank Deepal Sooriyaarachchi, as chief guest and other senior bank officials.

Mahawa is renowned for an economy based on agriculture. Paddy, coconut, cashew, maize and other grains are cultivated in Mahawa and the surrounding areas. Being the main transit point from Colombo and the North, Mahawa town is always busy. With several development projects taking place such as reconstruction of irrigation canals and water tanks, renovation of roadways and railway tracks, the town is getting ready for a gigantic economic boom.
