Another phase of the
‘Sandun Arana National Program’ which operates under the
guidance of the Ministry of Environment and Natural
Resources and Touchwood Plc, was launched recently at the
Namal Uyana World heritage site under the patronage of Ven.
Wanawasi Rahula Thera and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa to
hand over sandalwood plants for the Namal Uyana temple
premises. Here Ven. Wanawasi Rahula Thera accepting a
sandalwood plant from First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa. Dulan
Hettiarachchi, Media Consultant of Justice Ministry and
National Coordinator, Sadun Arana, Parliament Secretary
Kumarasiri Hettige, Touchwood Plc., CEO Channa
Abeygunawardena and Asitha Koralage also participated.
Deputy Minister of
External Affairs Neomal Perera during a recent visit to the
Dominican Republic called on its Minister of External
Affairs Carlos Morales Troncoso. During the discussions,
Deputy Minister Perera gave an overview of the current
development process in Sri Lanka, the humanitarian
operations, and the progress of the Lessons Learnt and
Reconciliation Commission.

candidate Milinda Moragoda holds up a handful of newspaper
cuttings dating back to the 1960s that former Colombo Mayor
M.H. Mohamed gave him, pointing out that the many problems
brought up at that time had still not been resolved, at a
recent meeting with the business community in Colombo at the
Hotel Nippon. The only way to find lasting solutions was to
leave politics behind and adopt an integrated approach with
citizens, local government and higher government agencies
all working together to solve these problems. He said that
peace had provided one of the best opportunities for such an
initiative to be successful. Former Minister R.A.D. Sirisena,
Mrs. Shahool Hameed and candidate Mohamed Husen Mancil were
also present.
