Vidyartha - under 15 chess champions

CHESS: Vidyartha College, Kandy, became boys under 15 chess champions at the National School Games organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Chess Association and the Ministry of Education and worked off at auditorium of Badulla Central College, Badulla recently.Vidyartha College dominated this championship to such an extent that they scored convincing victories to register a record 28 points and remained unbeaten. They also won this championship in 2010.

They registered wins over Mahajana College, Tellipillai 5-1, beat Dharmaraja College, Kandy 4 1/2 - 1 1/2, beat Royal College - 4-2, beat Nalanda College 4-2, beat Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda 4 1/2 - 1 1/2, beat Kingswood College 5-1.

The team was captained by D.M.T.K. Kulasekera who has the highest rating of 1800 and coached by L.V. Mudalige with J.A. Kumarasinghe as the Master-in-Charge.
