Jetwing commemorates World Tourism Day
This year, World Tourism Day marked an amazing growth in tourism for
Sri Lanka and the Asia Pacific region.
In commemoration of the event, Jetwing Hotels organised programs at
Jetwing Vil Uyana in Sigiriya and Jetwing Lighthouse in Galle. Jetwing
Vil Uyana in collaboration with Jetwing Travels, donated 30 disposal
bins to be installed in and around Sigiriya.
Planned as an initial measure, Jetwing hopes to take the initiative
around the island, especially in areas of cultural and tourist
significance. After the ceremony, a shramadana by schoolchildren of the
area aided by the Air Force was held in Sigiriya to start the program.
Jetwing Lighthouse held a tree planting ceremony, and displayed
posters drawn by schoolchildren as well as feature presentations on
'Cultural and Historical Attractions of Sri Lanka', and 'Culinary
Wonders of Sri Lanka'.
The increase of tourism to Sri Lanka calls for celebration, and is an
eye opener. We cannot expect such a growth to continue forever without
laying the proper groundwork for future generations.
Jetwing Travels and Jetwing Hotels have come together to keep it
clean, said Managing Director of Jetwing Travels Shiromal Cooray.
