
Shankar's International Children's Competition to mark Children's
Day
To commemorate Children's Day, which falls on November 14 every year,
coinciding with the birthday of Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime
Minister of India, the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Colombo will hold
the Shankar's International Children's Competition painting, drawing and
writing competition for children on Saturday, November 12 from 9.30 a.m.
to 1.00 p.m at the Indian Cultural Centre, 16/2 Gregory's Road, Colombo

Children who are interested in participating may register their names
with the Centre (Tel. 011-2684698, Telefax 2684697, e-mail
[email protected]) and are requested to come to ICC at 9.30 am on
November 12.
The entries done by children on that day will be sent to New Delhi
for the Shankar's International Children's Competition 2012.The
Shankar's International Children's Competition 2012, in the categories
of writing, painting and drawing, is open to children all over world
born on or after January 1st, 1996.
The competition was started in 1949 by the late Shri Shankar Pillai,
a celebrated cartoonist and recipient of several awards including Padma
Shri and Padma Vibhushan.
The international participation in the competition has increased
greatly over the years with children from over 130 countries
participating and winning prizes.
The last date for receipt of entries in New Delhi for the Shankar's
Competition is February 28.

Yashodhara Sarachchandra and Kusumsiri Liyanaarachchi's Dangaya and
Punchi Andare will have their premiere at the Lionel Wendt on November 5
and 6 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m.
The cast includes Sunil Thilakaratne, Jayanath Bandara, Pradeep
Ramavikrama, Pramila Samarakoon, Kalum Kalhari Gamlath, Madhuranga Sri
Lal, Nadeesha Sandamali, Ruchira Sooriarachci, Himashi Vithanage,
Nadeeka Kumudu Kumari, Vishva Thilakaratne, Randika Chathurani,
Sachithri Athukorala, Devinda Wickramasinghe, Akalanka Prabhashwara,
Dulanjan Dissanayake, Sachithra Karunaratne, Lakshmi Dissanayake,
Chaminda Mirihalla, Manisha Dukgannarala, Dinushi Vithanage and Darshana
Ubeysekara.
Nature Team presents Nethadara 2011

The Nature Team of the Moratuwa University will present their annual
photographic exhibition and competition 'Nethadara 2011' for the fifth
consecutive year today and tomorrow at the university premises.
The
competition is an all island open event. More than 80 photographs have
been selected for exhibition by a panel of judges in two categories,
Open and School, where the best three photographers in each category
will be awarded with a certificate and cash prizes. |
