NDB Bank, in partnership with the University of Moratuwa and the
Young Entrepreneurs Sri Lanka (YESL) sponsored entrepreneurship training
for university students for the first time.
The Young Entrepreneurs Business Program provides students training
on practical business, economics and entrepreneurship concepts, giving
them an opportunity to set up and operate their own business ventures.
The first phase of the program was successful in producing eight
companies, formed by close to 300 students who launched their businesses
and introduced their products, services and business ideas at a ceremony
held recently.
CEO of NDB Bank Russell de Mel said, "Our sponsorship of these
students, ties in with NDB Bank's strategic CSR, where we focus on
education and entrepreneurship which play a key role in NDB Bank's
business strategy.
NDB has always supported initiatives which will contribute towards
the development of Sri Lanka.
First with the sponsorship of the Endowed Professor for
Entrepreneurship and now with sponsorship of young entrepreneurs in
business, the Bank has showcased its commitment towards creating an
entrepreneurial culture which is essential for the growth of a nation"
De Mel said.
