The Sri Lankan tourism industry is likely to receive a boost with the
telecast in Australia of a new 10-part series on Sri Lankan food and
tourist hotspots, hosted by Sri Lankan-born celebrity chef Peter
Kuruvita.
Kuruvita, the chef and restaurateur behind the Flying Fish Restaurant
at Jones Bay Wharf, Pyrmont, Sydney, travelled through all nine
provinces to shoot "My Sri Lanka" which has been called part cooking
show, part memoir and part travelogue.
According to one Australian reviewer, "the camera work is top-drawer
and each episode is likely to leave you craving both Sri Lankan food and
a subcontinental sojourn".
As the title suggests, it's an intimate production, full of personal
anecdotes and emotional moments. The footage of local wildlife is also
notable.
In My Sri Lanka, the award-winning restaurateur treks across the
country, sharing recipes, stories and truly breathtaking scenery.
Kuruvita considers himself a proud Australian and a proud Sri Lankan.
Time and again his philosophy - that food must be prepared and cooked
with love - is evidenced in the joy of those around him.
