Devapathiraja College Rajgama girls rugby team put up a stupendous
performance to beat Rohana Balika Vidyalaya Galle by 10 points (2 tries)
to 5 (1 try) in a nail biting match staged at the historic Kelani Valley
grounds Talduwa on November 11 in the final of the Girls under 16 rugby
tournament.
In the Plate Category St. Mary's College Yatiyantota the first Tamil
rugby playing school in the island gave an excellent performance to beat
the Nugavela Central College, Kandy by 5 points to nil, while in Shield
Category Seethawaka Vidyalaya, Awissawella beat Galpaya Vidyalaya
(Pallebadda) 5 points to nil.
This Girls sevens rugby tournament was organised by the SLSRFA and
sponsored by Nestle Lanka Plc., and the chief guest was Ranjith
Chandrasekara President SLSRFA and Principal Kingswood College, Kandy.
Also present were Gamini Sarathchandra (All tournament Secretary
SLSRFA), A. P. Jayasooriya (Coordinator) and K. S. P. Karunaratne
(Tournament Secretary, Sabaragamuwa RFA). |
