Central Province - overall champs in athletics

SPORTS: Central Province Teachers won the Overall Championship in athletics at the All-Island Teachers Athletic Meet held at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Playgrounds. It was organised by the Department of Education last week.

Athletics (Men): 1. Central Province 336 points, 2. Southern Province 121 points, 3. Sabaragamuwa 108 points.

Women: 1. Sabaragamuwa Province 267 points, 2. Southern Province 158 points, 3. Central Province 130 points.

Athletics (Overall): 1. Central Province 466 points, 2. Sabaragamuwa 375 points, 3. Southern Province 279 points, 4. Wayamba 146 points, 5. Western 109 points.

Cricket: 1. Eastern Province (Akkaraipathu), 2. Eastern Province (Kinniya), 3. Central Province.

Netball: 1. Wayamba Province, 2. Western, 3. Sabaragamuwa.

Vollyball (Men):1. Southern Province, 2. Central Province, 3. Sabaragamuwa.

Women: 1. Western Province, 2. Wayamba, 3. Uva.
