Greenlight for restructuring of Ceramics Corp

The State Resources and Enterprise Development Ministry will go ahead
with the restructuring of the Ceramic Corporation as investors have not
submitted effective proposals to achieve the set requirements of the
Corporation, Minister Dayasritha Tissera said.
According to Minister Tissera, the compulsory retirement scheme will
be implemented with the approval of the State Resource Management
Company for 576 workers of the Ceramic Corporation.
According to Sarath Wickremaratne, the Competent Authority of the
Ceramic Corporation although it received Rs. 9 million monthly to pay
salaries and other allowances for the workers, the Treasury is no longer
allocating funds for this purpose.
The Elayapttuwa, Bingiriya, Yatiyana, Usvewa, Eragama and
Mahiyanganaya roofing tile factories of the Ceramic Corporation are
functioning at present while the Ve-uda factory is set for closure soon.
