History was created
when Rushika Quyn was awarded her fellowship of the
Institute of the Chartered Shipbrokers at the award ceremony
held recently in Colombo. Her father Maxwell de Silva,
Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Sri
Lanka and mother Manouri de Silva, former General Manager of
Ceylon Shipping Corporation too hold fellowships of the
Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Here Rushika Quyn
receives her Fellowship certificate from the Chairman of the
Institute, London, Tony Dixon. De Silvas thus became the
only family in the world to produce three Fellows of the
FICS, which is the highest qualification in shipping.
