CRICKET: Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Talatuoya emerged champions at the
Kandy District Girls Schools Cricket Tournament when they beat more
fancied Mahamaya Girls College by two wickets in the final played at St.
Anthony's Girls College grounds, Katugastota.
The tournament was organised by Department of Education, Kandy.
Batting first Mahamaya Girls made 30 runs for the loss of allocated 10
overs and they reached the target losing 8 wickets in 8.01 overs. The
teams that participated in the tournament were: Mahamaya, Ketawala
Kanishta, Gothami Girls, St. Anthony's Girls, Loolkandura Tamil School,
Ramakrishna Tamil School, Dambawala School, Aluthgama and the champions
Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Weldanbara, Talatuoya.
