Mayor meets ambassador

Mayor of Matale Hilmy Mohamed paid a courtesy call recently on Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Paris Dayan Jayatilleka. Mayor Mohamed who is also President of the Mayors Association of Sri Lanka, was part of the Sri Lankan Delegation to the sixth World Water Forum in Marseille (South of France) from March 12-17.

The Forum was aimed at mobilising stakeholders around local, regional and global issues.

More than 20,000 people from over 170 countries, representing governments, parliaments, regional and local authorities, international organisations, companies and public and private research centres and civil society, participated in numerous thematic and regional workshops.

During his meeting with Ambassador Jayatilleka, Mayor Mohamed discussed ways to strengthen ties between French and Sri Lankan municipalities and also projects to be initiated in his municipality of Matale.
