Q: Will this program be extended islandwide

A: The Mahinda Chinthana set a target for self-sufficiency in liquid milk by 2020.

Liquid milk needs to be popularised among people, especially the schoolchildren. They should be made aware of the nutritional value of liquid milk. This program will minimise malnutrition among children.

Ulmost cooperation for milk distribution program

Q: What is the public response for the milk distribution program?

A: This has benefited 159,400 children in 523 schools in the Nuwara Eliya district. State bodies, the Economic Development Ministry of the Central Provincial Council, Public officers and farmers gave their utmost cooperation to make the program a success.

Moneragala district to benefit from milk program

Q: Will the decision to enrich the schoolchild with milk and eggs be implemented in the Moneragala District

A: It was decided at the District Agricultural meeting held last Thursday to launch this program after obtaining approval from the Economic Development Ministry.

It will benefit not only schoolchildren but also milk farmers who faced difficulties in selling this milk recently.
