
Dance and music courses at Indian Cultural Centre
The Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo is currently admitting students
for Instrumental courses - sitar, violin and tabla, vocal music courses
- Hindustani and Carnatic and the dance courses Bharatha Natyam and
Kathak for 2012.
The sitar course will be conducted by Dr. Nirmala Kumari Rodrigo,
Senior Lecturer at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts. The
Violin course will be conducted by Somasiri Illesinge, renowned
violinist. Tabla course will be conducted by S.W. Randoowa, renowned
tablist.
The Hindustani vocal music classes will be conducted by Dr. Premadasa
Mudunkotuwa and the Carnatic vocal music classes will be conducted by
Mrs. Arunthathy Sri Renganathan. The Bharatha Natyam classes will be
conducted by Ms. Subashini Pathmanathan, disciple of the late Vazhvoorar
Ramiah Pillai and Ms. Vasugy Jegatheeswaran, disciple of Padmashri Adyar
K.Lakshman .
The Kathak classes will be conducted by Ms. Moksha Samarasuriya who
received her Kathak dance training at Bhatkhande College of Hindustani
Music Govt. of U.P, Lucknow.
Dangaya and Punchi Andare at Punchi Theatre

Yasodara Sarachchandra and Kusumsiri Liyanarachchi's Dangaya and
Punchi Andare will be staged at Namel Malini's Punchi Theatre, Borella
on August 11 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
The cast includes Sunil Thilakaratne, Jayantha Bandara, Pradeep
Ramavikrama, Pramila Samarakoon, Kalum Kalhari Gamlath, Madhuranga Sri
Lal, Nadeesha Sandamali, Ruchira Sooriyarachchi, Himashi Vithanage,
Nadeeka Kumudu Kumari, Vishva Thilakaratne, Randika Chaturani, Sachitri
Atukorale, Devinda Wickramasinghe, Akalanka Prabhaswara, Dulanjan
Dissanayaka, Sachitra Karunaratne, Lakshmi Dissanayake, Chaminda
Mirihalla, Manisha Dukgannarala, Dinushi Vithanage and Darshana
Ubeysekara.
Deiyo Saakki at Moratuwa
Dr. Anura Chandrasiri's stage play Deiyo Saakki will be staged at the
Sarvodaya Hall, Moratuwa today 5 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
The cast includes Bandula Wijeweera, Menike Aththanayaka, Gunadasa
Madurasinghe, Chinthanie Hidurangala, Anoma Kumudini, Nirmani Perera and
Sanath Sri Malsara. The music is by Bundala Wijeweera. |
