Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club scored a smashing 25 points (two goals,
one try, two drop goals) to 14 (two goals) win over defending champions
Kandy Sports Club in their Dialog League ‘A’ Division League rugby match
played at Welisara yesterday after leading 15-14 at the breather.
It was Kandy SC’s first defeat for the season. The sailors under the
leadership of Sri Lanka skipper Yoshitha Rajapaksa gained control of the
game in the second half after a slender one point lead in the first
half.
Lock forward Kalana Amarasinghe, flanker Yoshitha Rajapaksa and No.8
Bilal Hassan scored the tries for Navy with fly half Dev Anand
converting two tries and also dropping two goals.
Fly half Fazil Marija and hooker Achala Perera scored the tries for
Kandy SC with Roshan Weeraratne adding the extra points to both tries.
