JAT Holdings launches Herman Miller range of products
JAT Holdings launched a range of office, hospital and home products
of Herman Miller, a Michigan Star Furniture Company at a ceremony
recently.
The company will showcase and sell products at its interior design
mall at Alexandra Place.
A spokesman for JAT Holdings said, "On its team are some of the
country's pioneers of the paint industry whose expertise and
professionalism has enhanced the company's leadership position in the
surface coatings industry. For around 20 years, JAT has been active in
providing the world's finest wood care protection 'Sayerlack' to the Sri
Lankan market and has expanded its markets to Bangladesh, the Maldives
and India over the past 10 years".
Herman Miller was a West Michiigan businessman who helped his
son-in-law, D.J. De Pree to buy the Michigan Star Furniture Company in
1923. De Pree had been working at the company, which opened in 1905,
since he was hired in 1909 as a clerk. De Pree knew his father-in-law
was a man of integrity, so he decided to rename the company after him.
By the middle of the 20th century, the name Herman Miller had become
synonymous with "modern" furniture. Working with legendary designers
George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, the company produced pieces
that would become classics of industrial design.
