Defence Secy visits Poland for exhibition

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa visited Poland at the invitation of Poland's Minister of National Defence Tomasz Siemoniak to attend the 20th International Defence Industry Exhibition (MPSO) in Kielce from September 3-6.

The exhibition was inaugurated by President of Poland Boruslaw Komorowski on September 3 amidst a large gathering of invitees related to defence industries worldwide. Rajapaksa had a prominent presence among the dignitaries attending the exhibition.

He had a number of meetings with key personnel of the Polish Government as well as the defence industry attending the event. He also had an opportunity of meeting informally with President Komorowski as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslav Sikorski during the lunch hosted for the invitees by the President of the exhibition Andrzej Mochon. He gave Minister Sikorski a brief account of the defeat of the LTTE and the present situation in Sri Lanka.

Poland's Minister of National Defence Siemoniak said Rajapaksa's visit would open new vistas for Polish-Sri Lanka bilateral relations and pledged to extend cooperation in promoting relations within the framework of his ministry.
