Competition to select emerging young leader
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development calling for
applications for 'Emerging Young leader Award Competition 2012' with the
closing date set for September 30. Applications can be downloaded from
the website of the Ministry. They would also be published in weekend
newspapers in the second and third week of September.
The applications should be sent by registered post to EYLA 2012,
NYSC, No.65, High Level Road, Maharagama. The competition consists of
five rounds and is open to Sri Lankan youth between the ages of 19 to
25. The competitors, accomplishments would be assessed at school level,
divisional, provincial, national and international level in the first
round, after which they will be selected for the second round.
In the second round, the competitors would appear for an IQ test and
all those who exceed the cut-off mark will be admitted to the next
round. In the third round, 100 competitors will experience a residential
camp of three days, where they will be tested on team management,
leadership qualities, and extracurricular activities, while receiving
valuable training.
Thirty two competitors who obtain the highest marks in the three
rounds will be selected for the semifinals, which will follow the
pattern of a reality program. One competitor will be eliminated each
week. The finals will see four competitors, taking part in a written
questionnaire, face-to-face quiz and a challenge event.
The winner would receive a cash prize of one million rupees, a
foreign tour and a grand prize.
Emerging Young leader Award 2012 (EYLA 2012) is organised by the
National Youth Services Council and Emerging Young leaders Association
under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills
Development.
