Mobitel to power CA confab

Mobitel will power the 33rd National Conference of Chartered
Accountants organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri
Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) with a gold sponsorship, for the second consecutive
year.
The theme this year is, ‘Winning: Country, Corporate, Citizen’, which
will be held from October18-20 October at the Water's Edge, Battaramulla
with two days of technical sessions conducted by an eminent panel of
experts .
BIA to handle over 180,000 mt of cargo

SriLankan Cargo has projected that the Bandaranaike International
Airport (BIA) Cargo Centre will handle over 180,000 metric tonnes of
cargo this year.
“The BIA Cargo Centre is on course for a record-breaking year, if
volumes continue as we expect them to. Our projections are that we will
handle over 180,000 metric tonnes in 2012, which would surpass the
existing record,” Senior Manager, Worldwide Cargo Operations at
SriLankan, Janaka Munasinghe said.
Orient Finance inaugurates FD Division

Orient Finance PLC commenced accepting fixed deposits subsequent to
being licensed by the Monetary Board of the Central Bank under the
Finance Business Act No 42 of 2011 as a Finance Company.
The Fixed Deposit division, which was inaugurated on August 16 is
expected to complement Orient Finance’s core business of leasing, hire
purchase and debt factoring enhancing its product offering to its
growing customer base, a company spokesman said.
Avian Technologies wins 'Best Service and Support' Award
Avian Technologies won the "Best Service and Support Award 2012" for
Asia Pacific Region at the Kaspersky Lab APAC Partner Conference at
Phuket, Thailand recently.
Avian Technologies Directors Ranil Francisco, Buddhika Liyanage and
the Avian Team were highly commended by Kaspersky Lab on winning this
well deserved award and for making them proud and renewing their belief

HP launches Designjet
HP launched the HP Designjet Z3200 photo printer recently.
"HP is committed to developing technologies that expand the
capabilities of fine art printing to better meet customer needs in an
evolving market," said Business Manager, Large-Format Printing, Imaging
and Printing Group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan, Martin Carballo.
New CEO/Director at NTB
Ms. Renuka Fernando was appointed the new Chief Executive Officer and
Director of Nations Trust Bank (NT)Plc from yesterday. Ms. Fernando
succeeds Saliya Rajakaruna who stepped down on the completion of his
contract of service.
Chairman NTB, Ronnie Peiris said, "We are delighted to welcome Ms.
Renuka Fernando as our new Chief Executive Officer and Director.
Swisstek goes high-tech
Swisstek Aluminium Limited, a member of the Lanka Walltiles Group,
commissioned a fully-automated powder coating plant.
"The plant from Wagner, Germany ensures international standards,
whilst increasing the powder coating capacity of Swisstek Aluminium by
over 300 percent," a company spokesman said.
The plant was commissioned by Company Chairman, Anthony Page and
Managing Director, Mahendra Jayasekera. Architects, engineers,
fabricators and dealers were present.
An engineer from Wagner, Michael Rossi, who was involved in the
installation of the plant was present. Representing Wagner were Senior
Vice President, Franz Maier and Regional Business Development Manager,
Gopinath Murthy.
HNB launches signature credit cards
Hatton National Bank (HNB) launched the HNB VISA Infinite and
Signature credit cards recently.
The HNB VISA Infinite and Signature Credit Cards are CHIP enabled,
which provides the best level of security for card information. “The
cards can be availed for exclusive fine dining, travel and leisure,
health and wellness and lifestyle outlets to be greeted with special
offers and great savings,” a spokesman for the Bank said.

Abans donates laptops
Abans recently presented laptops to the Knowledge Hub initiative in
Sri Lanka, a program spearheaded by Secretary to the President Lalith
Weeratunga.
This program envisages developing five strategic knowledge hubs to
usher Sri Lanka to the Knowledge Economy.
