Tickets moving fast!

If as you read this and the time is well past 8 in the morning, then
the buzz for semi-final selection at the Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo
must be bristling with happiness and laughter and who knows a wee bit of
tears as well. Today is the day, we told you last week, when the
contestants will be given the green light to be a shining light in the
Sri Lankan fashion scene!
The grand finale will be held at the end of this month. Olive Fine
has come forward to give jewellery prizes to the winners.
The good news we have is that all Rs. 1,000 tickets are sold out and
the others the Rs. 3,000 and 5,000 are moving fast. So be quick and make
sure of your seat.
The grand finale will be held at the Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo.
A few tickets are available at Sterling Flowers, Elegant Smockers,
Havelock Road, Semage Mirrors at Nawala and at Furnifits, High level
Road, Kirulapone.
The Sunday Observer Most Popular Designer of the Year contest is
hotting up with interest and enthusiasm. Last week Sharmika Madhuvanthi
Kalwatte headed the vote count.

Twenty two years and working at HSBC, Chamini was a past student of
Colombo South International College. “I entered this competition as I
want to build up a career path in the global fashion industry. Further I
also want to win the scholarship which will add more value to my
portfolio. I enjoy creating glamorous outfits specially evening wear. I
love to work with soft fabrics and earthy colours which are in vogue
today. I have created outfits for themes such as Arabian Nights and
Warrior Princess”.

A past student of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Ayesha after
completing her A Levels completed a diploma in beauty culture and hair
dressing. “In 2008 I took part in a fashion show to display my fashions
and soon after I participated in a Japanese fashion show.
I also followed a course at LIFT (Lanka Institute of Fashion
Technology) and graduated in fashion design. For this CATS SINGER
contest I'm taking part in all 10 categories and I hope the judges will
be happy with my contributions. My dream is to be a talented fashion
designer in the future.
