Namal inspects preparations in Sooriyawewa

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa yesterday visited Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Sooriyawewa to inspect the preparations for the forthcoming ICC Twenty20 World Cup tournament to be held in Sri Lanka.

The Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Sooriyawewa in the Hambantota District is one of the three local venues which will host the T20 World Cup matches which begins on Tuesday. The other two venues are Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy and R. Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo.

Hosts Sri Lanka will meet Zimbabwe in the curtain raiser game of the 12-nation tournament to be played at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Sooriyawewa commencing from 2 p.m. on Sept. 18 (Tuesday).
